American Girl

We spent the evening at American Girl. We took Hadley there for her birthday, it was her gift from us. We went early and shopped around, Hadley was told she was going to get a doll so she had been looking online and had it narrowed down to two dolls, the new doll Gwen and a Just Like You Doll. Once we got there we spent about 40 minutes walking around and she decided she wanted the Just Like You Doll.

We picked her out, got her pj's, I snuck in a matching outfit for her and the doll for Hadley to open on her actual birthday, Hadley picked out a carrying bag and then we headed up to the cafe for dinner..
The cafe was so cute! Hadley's doll sat next to her. We had appetizer, dinner, dessert, they even sang Happy Birthday to her! It was great!!

Then half way through dinner..."Mommy, I think I want Gwen." SO...after dinner we spent another 30 minutes in the store going over the two dolls and making sure she made her choice...and we came home..with Gwen!!!

Total..we spent almost 3 hours in the store..but we had a great time, even Daddy! We do know we started an expensive habit, but it was so amazing to see Hadley's face light up at getting the Gwen. She came right home, got her pj's on her and put her to bed in the doll bed. She is so excited about it. She told me she has never had a princess before! I can see many shopping trips to American Girl!! But it was a great birthday!

A girl and her dog

Hadley has trained DeeDee well. She comes when Hadley says, she goes when Hadley says, Hadley can walk her, feed her, brush her, pick her up (with Mommy and Daddy holding their breath in the background), really, DeeDee lets Hadley do about anything..and today..Hadley showed us exactly how far DeeDee will let her take it! Hadley decided DeeDee was her own little dress up toy! They were gone in her room for some time, and what came out..well..DeeDee with Hadley's nightgown around her, necklace on, hair bows, hair clips, and what you can't see in the picture...makeup..yes.."dress-up" makeup all over the dog's face!!!

Now Hadley walked DeeDee around like this for some time, and DeeDee followed and let her redress her a few times, but this picture shows DeeDee's fear!!!

Now this isn't the first time DeeDee has ended up in one of Hadley's nightgown tops, or shirts, or doll dresses, and it won't be the last. Thing is, the dog will stay in the outfit all day if you let her, so she must not mind too bad!!

Stay Away..Stay Far Away...

We were quarantined this week at our house. It all started on Sunday when Hadley woke up with a 102.8 fever! She was sick all day with a fever and just plain icky feeling. She laid around the house most of the day in mommy's tshirt or nothing so we could try and keep her temp down.
Mommy also started not feeling too well... then Monday came..and well...Hadley was feeling better. She stayed home from school..but Mommy, well, she felt like death was tap-tapping at her door. I was sick! I had the flu, laryngitis, and god knows what else! I was in the type of sick where I was non-functioning! Jason luckily was able to stay home because I couldn't take care of anything. Tuesday night I went to bed at 3:00pm and didn't get up until the next morning!! So Wednesday night I began feeling a little more like a human again..so I thought, okay, I should go to work on Thursday, after all I have been out for three days..so I did! Sick...all day!! The nurses were yelling at me to go home.I mean they wouldn't let me in front of patients, I was only in the office answering phones. But now it is worse..so here we are, Friday, I am home, waiting for my 9:30 doctor appt..what do they think I have..bronchitis...what next!!! I am very glad Hadley only had a bit of what I had, and I think our house now has about 20-30 layers of Lysol on it!!

Oh and how did Jason handle taking over as Mommy and Daddy for the week...
Dinner Monday night: Chinese,
Dinner Tuesday night: Steak and Shake,
Dinner Wednesday Night: McDonalds
Seriously!!!
I had to get him to go to the store to buy milk!!!! And on Thursday I had to go over my lunch break to buy toilet paper since we were on our last role!!! And he learned a whole new meaning to what my morning routine was with miss crabby pants!!! I also think he got a little more appreciation for how much I do around here, even when I am sick!! Overall, I am very grateful that he was able to stay home if not I would have been crying on the phone to my mom to fly to Chicago to take care of Hadley!!!
Now..just make me feel better!!!
